Academic Scheduler (version 1.3.1)

The Academic Scheduler program was created to aid in the scheduling of an academic department. Although several features of this program are specific to the scheduling needs here at Salisbury University the program is general enough to be used at most institutions. The program is basically a drag-and-drop enabled system for rapid placement and movement of classes. It has many features to track different aspects of an academic schedule. Finally it offers reporting facilities for printing schedule lists, professor schedule cards and room schedule cards.

	Windows Instructions... Download the AcademicSchedulerSetup_Version_1_3_1.exe install program using the link above this instruction box. If the Java JRE is not installed on your computer download and install the current version of the Java JRE (1.6.0 or later). You can get the most current version at the Oracle Web Site or download version 1.6.0 update 4 at jre-6u4-windows-i586-p.exe. Run the AcademicSchedulerSetup_Version_1_3_1.exe program and follow the instructions on the screen. This will place links to the Cryptography Tools program in your Start menu.
	Linux Instructions... Download the AcademicScheduler_Linux_Mac.zip file using the link above this instruction box. If the Java JRE is not installed on your computer download and install the current version of the Java JRE (1.6.0 or later). You can get the current version of the Java JRE at the Oracle Web Site. Unzip the AcademicScheduler_Linux_Mac.zip file. There should be two files, AcademicScheduler.jar, which is the program and ScheduleIcon.png which is the program icon that can be used for the links you create. Create a shortcut to the program (AcademicScheduler.jar) using a script similar to the one below, #!/bin/sh APPBASE="/home/don/bin/AcademicScheduler" JAVABASE="/usr/java/jdk1.6.0_03/bin" "$JAVABASE/java" -Xmx128m -Djava.library.path="$APPBASE" -jar "$APPBASE/AcademicScheduler.jar" with APPBASE="/home/don/bin/AcademicScheduler" JAVABASE="/usr/java/jdk1.6.0_03/bin" replaced by the paths of the program and the Java bin directory on your computer. The 128 can be increased or decreased but must not exceed the RAM (in MB) of your system.
	Mac Instructions... Download the AcademicScheduler_Linux_Mac.zip file using the link above this instruction box. Unzip the AcademicScheduler_Linux_Mac.zip file. There should be two files, AcademicScheduler.jar, which is the program and ScheduleIcon.png which is the program icon that can be used for the links you create. Create a shortcut to the AcademicScheduler.jar file.
