The exam will emphasize the material since exam 2, but material on Cultural values and assumptions   are expected to be understood.

Part II. (20 pts.) Required  ESSAY.  Choose between two options

During the semester, we have examined a
variety of management practices and examined how they may need to be adapted as one moves across borders.

 Select one specific concept, theory or idea from  the  chapter topics below:

 Organization Structure, HRM-overseas assignment cycle or training,

Communications/negotiations, Motivation, or Leadership.

 A. For the topic selected identify a specific concept , theory, or idea ( ex.,Negotiations - Steps in negotiation process; leadership – Theory X and Y) describe and define the concept or theory.

B. Name, describe, and compare two cultural assumptions and two cultural values  in the US and in your Audit country. Select the cultural characteristics that are most relevant to the topic or concept in (A) above

 C. Using the cultural assumptions and values in (B),  discuss how the application of your concept/theory in  your audit country  might differ from its application in the US.

 Note: No notes will be permitted for this question in the exam. 

 EXERCISE. Prepare before exam and provide two versions of this exercise: (1) a hardcopy you bring to the exam and (2)  email me a copy of the exercise before the Exam.

 Using any theory or concept studied in this course, develop an exercise that could be used in class to discuss the topic.

1.     Describe the exercise or scenario

2.    Discuss what concepts or theory it illustrates in a paragraph

3.    Provide some questions with answers that one could ask the class in using this exercise.
