OBJECTIVES
A. Content of Policy Studies
- achievement of most of these objectives is reflected by the student's
ability to define or describe the concept as well as apply it correctly in a
business setting.
1. To distinguish between the concepts of
mission, goals, plans and policies.
2. To outline and apply the major steps involved
in developing an organizational strategy & plan.
3. To be able to conduct an analysis of an
industry.
4. To distinguish between key generic strategies
by describing them and being able to categorize the strategy of a given firm.
5. To understand how strategy is implemented via
structure, systems, and staff.
6. To understand some of the added complexities
of strategy development and implementation in international settings.
2. To begin the development of decision-making
"experience" by exposing
the student to
frequent case studies and a competitive industry
simulation of business problems.
3. To develop a personal capacity to
utilize analytical techniques and effective
communication
skills required for effective implementation of corporate
strategy by the
use of oral and written reports.
4. To gain some skills in use of personal computer for managerial analysis.
Policies
NOTE:
Classes are meant to supplement, reinforce, or simplify reading
assignments, not to replace them.
PARTICIPATION
AND ATTENDANCE:
A)
There can be no student participation without attendance and
preparation, therefore, attendance is required
and will be noted.
B)
In order to participate you must have read the assignment and completed
any written work assign prior to the class period listed on the
syllabus.
C)
Participation in discussions and exercises will be noted roughly
speaking:
A
= Excellent attendance, significant, contributions, and well prepared.
B = Good attendance, contributes most times, usually well prepared.
C = Usually attends, occasionally contributes, often prepared.
D = Sporadic attendance, rare contributions, some preparation.
E = Barely attends, little contribution, usually not prepared.
EXAMS: There
will be two exams, the second one during finals week will cover material over
the semester.
Exams will be of mixed format including short answers, definitions and
essays.

behavioral standards you are expected to follow as a professional. Respect is earned and it
begins with how you handle yourself with colleagues, superiors, and subordinates. Good

MAKE UP POLICY
Generally, no make-ups are permitted.
A)
Exams: Make-ups only in case
of a documented excuse cleared by the instructor PRIOR to the exam.
B) Other assignments - NO make-ups
