Geospatial data used in this project include datasets obtained from Brazilian governmental agencies (e.g. SEDAM (Secretaria de Desenvolvimento Ambiental) INCRA (Instituto Nacional de Colonização e Reforma Agrária ) and IBGE (Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística), a digital elevation model (DEM) produced by the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) and spatial data collected in situ via mapping grade GPS units during the 2000, 2005 and 2009 field campaigns. The geometry of household landholdings was originally obtained from INCRA and has been modified based on lot subdivisions and aggregations noted during the survey’s field campaigns. Additionally, attribute information has been created and modified through spatial analysis operations and information obtained from survey data.

A transportation network was created via GPS mapping during the 2005 field campaign and modified by additions during 2009 fieldwork. The dataset includes attribute information pertaining to surface type and travel costs based on a slope derived model.

Additional data collected via GPS include the locations of markets and surveyed lots.
